Download • Process • Prepare Weather Data for SWAT

SWAT-Met Studio is a Windows desktop application for downloading NASA POWER daily weather data and preparing organised SWAT weather files.

Supported workflows: QSWAT in QGIS, ArcSWAT for ArcGIS Pro, and SWAT+ through SWAT+ Editor's SWAT2012 weather-data import workflow.

Software Features

• Daily weather: Precipitation, maximum/minimum temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, and wind speed.
• Station grids: Define geographic boundaries, year range, and station spacing; preview the prepared locations.
• Elevation options: Use NASA POWER MERRA-2 elevations or your own DEM with a valid CRS and elevations in metres.
• Terrain maps: Review stations over your DEM and export maps as PNG, TIFF, PDF, or SVG.
• SWAT & CSV exports: Generate SWAT2012-format weather text files, matching station indexes, and processed daily station CSVs.
• Data preparation: Fill missing values in returned records and review filling counts in the run summary.
• Standalone installation: No separate Python or R installation required. Internet is needed for weather downloads.

For solar radiation, start in 1984 or later. DEM elevations and closer station spacing do not increase the resolution of NASA weather data.

Free to process a single study area once.
Activation is required for further processing runs.
